A rose with thorns, not a creeping plant, or a clinging one, but one that stands on its own and is not defined by other plants around it. Just because it's pretty doesn't mean it can't protect itself. The Briar Rose takes its sustenance from love and beauty in a world she is actively part of and although the rose itself is beautiful, one must not neglect the architectual beauty of her thorns and leaves, they may seem cruel or utilitarian but without them the flower would be drained and weak, crushed by the unfeeling world.
